A new experiment: applying the HDR technique to textures

Lately, I have been a little obsessed with HDR photography. Especially the work of Trey Ratcliff is breathtaking and he also has a very good tutorial on his blog “Stuck in Customs”, where he covers the ins and outs of the HDR technique. Inspired by all this, I thought that I could try and apply this special technique to my textures. And this is what came out of it - my first HDR beach sand texture. I hope you like it. Please let me know, what you think of this little experiment, so I can decide, whether it is worth to continue in that direction.

I think its quite an interesting result, and for sure would love to see a similar technique used again. Nice one.

Jesus that is beautiful. I will definitely use this in a max test render doing a pseudo macro camera shot of some sort.
