This is a free texture pack with images from markers for hiking trails, which we came across in the Austrian alps. All pictures were taken by my lovely girlfriend Antje, who saw the first marker and immediately wanted to make a whole series of pictures. And I am glad she did, because that material is perfectly suited for this blog. So here they are, 6 great photos of stone, rocks and bark with the Austrian flag painted on. Many thanks to Antje for contributing these pictures! As always, a .zip file is available at the end of the post.

On the 15th of october 2008, blog action day takes place. The goal of this event is to raise awareness of one special topic by getting as much bloggers as possible to write about this topic. This year’s topic is “Poverty” and already lots of high-ranked blogs like Techcrunch, Smashing Magazine or Mashable are participating.
In order to take part, there are several possibilities: one could write a blogpost related to the topic and thereby adding to the global discussion. Others can use their day’s earnings to microfinance a loan or give them to charity.
I think that this is a great initiative and over the last weekend, I thought about how highresolutiontextures.com can contribute to blog action day. My day’s earnings are almost 0 and as it is a blog, which focuses on photography, it does not make sense to write an article. Therefore, I came up with the idea that I could create a big texture pack, publish it on that day, and you - the audience - could donate whatever you think it is worth. Afterwards, I will forward all donations to one of the charity organizations mentioned on blogactionday.org.
What do you think of this idea? Or do you maybe have other ideas on how this blog can contribute to this event? Please share your thoughts in the comments.

After the small copyright debate over the fabric textures, I decided to post some natural textures again. This time, from a category, which has not yet been covered here on highresolutiontextures.com - plants. Here is a fresh collection of 7 high quality shots of various plants. I hope you find them useful. As always, you can get a zip file with all images at the end of the post.

Here is an excellent collection of 7 high quality drapery textures, which were created by one of my readers. Danny C Boyce asked me, if was interested in publishing these and as the quality of the images is really good, I am more than happy to oblige! Just look at the brilliant colors of the first image - really quality material. Many thanks to him, for letting me publish his photos! Be sure to check out his blog “The Quality of Light”. And feel free to follow his example and contact me, if you want some of your textures published on here. Of course, you can find a zip file, which includes all of the images, at the end of this post. Enjoy!
UPDATE: Lawrence made a good point by saying that the copyright for these fabrics is probably still with the manufacturer. Therefore, I am not sure, if these textures can be used for commercial designs without problems.

Yesterday I found out that one of my wood textures has been used by an artist called PeNr1 and he published his artwork called “Filling the trashcan” on Deviantart. Here is a link to PeNr1’s Deviantart portfolio. I am happy to see, how my textures are being put to use!

Here is a brand new collection of hi res door textures. From now on, you are able to preview all images of a pack inside the post and I will also give you the possibility to download each texture separately. Clicking on the images will open them in a new window and from there you can just save them to you hard disc. Another way of doing this is just right-clicking (crtl-click for Mac users) the images and selecting “Save link as…”. You can still get all textures at once in one zip file, which is located at the end of the post.
